You need to install the correct driver for the video card, usually available from the card or graphic chip manufacturer.

You need to install the correct drivers for your video card. Windows installs the standard VGA driver, which allows only 16 colors. You may need to look inside case to determine make and model of video card. A program like
Belarc

could also be used to identify your card.

Sarah,

After you figure out which video card you have, go here Drivers to get your driver.

Log in using "drivers" for user name and "all" for the password. (No quotes, of course.)

Go the the column on the left andd select the Basic Search. In the first box put the name of your card, like Creative SVGA or whatever it is.

Then fill in the boxes from the drop downlists and at the very bottom select your operating system.

Download the driver, expand the file if it is compressed and then reinstall your driver.

Reboot

Installation varies with different video cards. Post the make and model video card and someone may be able to help you.
Generally, the driver is changed by clicking on "display" in control panel, then "settings" and "advanced" and "adapter". Click "change" and select "have disc". Change to location of new drivers.
