.....only if a password is provided.

For example, under Win 98 in explorer if I were to click on the new hard drive (D:) then I want to be restricted access to it unless I provide a password.

Anyone know of a program that'll do it ?

Preferably free !!

cheers all

those are the sillities of window$.. and do never dream of a free thing in micro$oft world..
if u really want the best solution, take off window$ and just use LINUX.. Linux is free, linux is reliable!

Yeah thanks for that mate, but I was after some helpful advice.
There are people, like myself, who for one reason or another are unable to change to Linux.

I don't wish to start a Linux vs Windows debate here but although Linux may be free, it has a long way to go before it can realistically compete with Windows.

I do not know how easy it is to get to your drive cables. I do not reccommedyou experiment with too much security or encryption software either. If it is convenient, shut down and turn off your unit.
Unplug drive 2 by removing either the data (ribbon cable) or the power (white 4wire [red, yellow black, black] socket plastic plug)
Reboot, the drive 2 is now hidden and secure.
