Reply: (edit)I had a virus one time that infected explorer.exe. It would not let me open icons as well, all it did was freeze the program while trying to open it. To fix this I qurantined it with a virus scanner because I could not repair it, or you can remove from you hard drive by deleting it and emptying your recycle bin. Then I copied explorer.exe from another computer onto a floppy and transferred it onto my computer it should go under (drive leter):\windows, if you do not have a computer to steal it from let me know and I'll see what I could do. This should solve the problem if indeed that file is infected. I would also buy a virus scanner and do weekly scans of the hard drive and well as enabling auto protect to scan all files this will help out a lot. Hope this helps
