I can't open certian files

It started when i got a virus. i reinstalled Windows XP Home and when I try opening files, It asks me to choose a program from a list to open it with, andyone know the default program or one that i can download to open other files? one particular file: .dll and i don't know what file it is
.DLL files (Dynamic Linked libraries) are collections of system functions that can be run by many applications. You really don't want to mess with them.

Take a look at all the excellent posts on this board that come from Tufenuf. I for one am quite happy to tolerate the odd harmless slip-up from that direction.
