I can't open certian files

It started when i got a virus. i reinstalled Windows XP Home and when I try opening files, It asks me to choose a program from a list to open it with, andyone know the default program or one that i can download to open other files? one particular file: .dll and i don't know what file it is

Was this a reformat and reinstall? the virus may still be there if you didn't.

these are a good starting point to check it
SpyBot
AdAware

and while you're at it use this:Kerio firewall

.DLL files (Dynamic Linked libraries) are collections of system functions that can be run by many applications. You really don't want to mess with them.

Take a look at all the excellent posts on this board that come from Tufenuf. I for one am quite happy to tolerate the odd harmless slip-up from that direction.
