Do you see a speaker on your desktop on the lower right hand side? If you do, then click it and look to see if you have anything that is muted. If everything is fine then go to Settings and control panel and look in mutimedia. In audio, make sure your sound card is appropriately set. If you dont see a speaker or you dont see your sound card in multimedia, then you need to reinstall the drivers for your sound card. If everything checks out fine and it says your sound card is working properly...then check the speaker connection in back of you computer. Good luck.

Hey YO!

Yeah, check that little yellow speaker looking deal that my boy Tom talked about and see if anything is MUTED.

NEXT, go to the control panel to "MULTIMEDIA" and "AUDIO" and see if there is a driver installed!! See if you have options to choose one or if it's all GREYED out!! USE THE DEFAULT if you CAN!! (WHY AM I YELLING?!?!)

Just for my info, back in the control panel, go to SOUNDS and open that up. See where ya choose (for example) what file you want to play as a start up file... can you push the PLAY (with the mouse of course, not your finger.. heh heh!) that or is it greyed out??

If the drivers and whatnot are installed in "MULTIMEDIA" and you have the OPTION to play those files in SOUNDS, please check the volume of your speakers. ALso check whether or not you have your hearing aid turned up.

Did you just upgrade to WIN98 or something? Did you install anything new? Do you like to watch movies about Gladiators??

Good luck my deer,
Lazarus

Could be a IRQ problem,go in control panel, system, device manager, double click on the computer icon make sure the window is set to IRQ and check to see if your sound card is using an IRQ that no other device is using. In other words if you sound IRQ is 10 and another device is using it then change the IRQ.
Also, if you have another computer try that card in it. If it still doesn't work then you have a bad card. :(

Make sure the drivers being installed are the exact match for your sound card - Especially if the card is newer than Windows95 itself. If this is so, chances Windows 95 does not have the proper drivers for your card, in which case drivers may be installed, Windows thinks everything is OK, but nothing happens. You may also want to check the device driver properties under My Computer where they refer to the sound card. If there is a question mark or an exclamation mark beside the sound card icon, this is an indication tha everything is NOT OK. (I think its too early to tell is you have a bad card.) Let me know how you make out.

The red x means that the hardware has been disabled. I don't know why that has happened.

For some reason my sound just stopped working. I thought it was because of my sound card failing, so I went & purchased a new one. It still doesnt work. So I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a file that, if it were missing, would cause this problem. I see the little bars respond in volume control when I play something but no sound through the speakers. I have done all on this page before. Please help.
