I cant get win98se to boot

I have a bootdisk and the win 98se cd...i tried running a surface scan but all it it said was the memory on the c drive was not displayed properly, so i changed that...and whenever i boot the computer up it says exlorer has an error you must reinstall windows, noone can tell me how to install windows without actually going into windows, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You can give this a try. Boot your system with a windows boot floppy disk, otherwise known as a start up disk. When it is started and you get the "A:" prompt, type in C: and hit enter. When you have the "C:" prompt, make sure your windows cd is in the cd tray and type in "setup", then click on the enter button on your keyboard. You will be re-installing your Windows operating system with an install wizard. You will get a screen that asks you if you want to keep your existing data, you want to click on "yes". That is simply installing your windows operating system without formatting or FDISKing.
