I hope someone can help me, because I am soon going to throw my CDRW in the wall.
I have bought a Philips CDRW400 and can't get it to work. The software that came with it was CeQuadrat. I did install the CDRW myself, and I am no computer wizard, but I think I got it right...I made the CDRW the master because the other CD-rom was the slave. At first I could burn audio and data CD's, and everything was great. But now I cant get it to work anymore, no matter what sort of files I try to burn. And then I downloaded Music Match Jukebox from Tucows and I could use that program to burn MP3 files and Audio. I uninstalled the CeQuadrat program and tried a new one, called Adaptec Easy CD Creator, and hoped that that would help, but it didn't. When I try to use it I get this message: "There are currently no supported CD recorders available. Please ensure that your CD recorder is powered on and that all cables are properly connected."
I hope someone can help me, and please remember that I am no expert on computer, so please keep the language as easy as possible to understand.

Does you PC still find the drive when it boots up, if it doesn't check your connections, try going through the installation like you where installing it for the first time(i.e. remove the put the drive back in).
If this doesn't help e-mail me at thomas@celticnations.org

I had the same problems it should be your irq settings. Sometimes windows puts your cdr to one thing and your cdr cant run off of it. I would go to device manager in systems folder and make sure you can see your cdr. then select properties and see what irq is set and then look to see if your cdr can run off that irq.
good luck

I too had trouble with a CDRW. This may help:
1) right click om "my computer", select "properties", highlight CD-Rom drives, go to "settings" for each CD drive. Make sure the DMA check box is checked for your CDRW drive and unchecked for your regular CD rom drive.
2) Adaptec is supposed to be very good software for recording. But, I had the exact same trouble with it that you have experienced. I switched to ClicknBurn Pro for data and audio and have had no trouble since, even recording at maximum speeds.

If your drive is able to read CDs than you can feel confident that the hardware is ok. You can concentrate on the software.

For starters you need to get the burner off of the same ide as the CDROM. They do not always work well together. place it on ide2
alone as a secondary master. the cdrom should be slave to your hard disk on ide 1
This is info gained through multiple installations. good luck
