Is there a way to do this?
I have a list of people in a Word document. Each name has a phone number next to it. In the same document I have a page for EACH person that has more information on them. I have set up Book Marks and Hyperlinks so that on the First page I can click on their name and it will take me to their page. On their page I have another similar Hyperlink to take me back to the First page. I would LIKE to be able to click on the phone number on the first page and have it go through Phone Dialer or some similar program to dial their phone number through my modem. I think I have a voice modem. I have never used voice features on any modem so I'm not SURE what wonderful options it is supposed to provide. The setup options in PhoneDialer gives the option to 'Connect Using...' whichever modem. In the setup options there is a check mark next to "Use Phone Dialer to handle voice call requests from other programs". I guess what I need to figure out is how to make the hyperlink go to Phone Dialer AND dial the number. How do I do that?

The question is does Phone Dialer allow command line input. If so, you could just create a batch file called 2125551212.bat for instance, put a shortcut to that file in the document, then when you click on the shortcut it executes that batch file, and the contents of the batch file would be something like

start phonedial 2125551212

.. or whatever phonedial has its its command line invocation format. You might also do a search on download.com for freeware phone dialers to see if you can find one that allows such command line input.

Another version of this same idea is to find a program that allows batch invocation through its own file type. The freeware program Displayswitch works like this. You just create a file called 1024768.res and make the first line of the file say 1024 768 and then when you click on the file your resolution changes to 1024x768 instantly. You need a dialer that works similarly. No idea if one exists.

I know nothing about talking to people by dialing their phones from the computer, but I would guess that there are programs that help you with that and would include the ability to maintain a phone book or chortcuts to dial people. Here is one (I think)

I am not trying to really TALK to these people through the computer. I have a telephone connected to the phone line to do the talking. I am just wanting to use the modem to do the dialing. I just need to find a program that will allow the hyperlink to do the link.
