Help.....someone sent http://mycpworld.com link in an email to my son, of course he opened it. And yep...its a porn site, but thats not the worst part...it seems that since then, the site has decided to become my "default" page. no matter what I do..I reset it, and it keeps coming back! Also, seems my computer has been running alot slower, freezes at odd times..all kinds of fun stuff...I have all my NAV def up todate, and have run a full virus check, and nothing has come up. I thought that I would just chuck it all, and reformat, I made a Win98SE bootable disk, checked to make sure it worked, and my computer wont go to A: drive first! how am I ever going to do a reformat if I cant use my boot disk? HELP!!!!!!!

Deleting your temp internet files might work, so you don't have to format.
If you still want to format, you need to change your boot sequence in BIOS to go to the A: drive first.

i encountered the same problem a while back. have a look at http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/17913.html

I'd try deleting the files first before formatting...
In Internet Explorer, go to TOOLS, and Internet Options.
Under the GENERAL TAB, click on the buttons to delete your temp internet files. That hapened to dme before and this worked.

Zippy you're a genius! Your trick worked like a charm. As an FYI to anyone else who might be able to use it the problem file was listed in the Startup list in msconfig as OPQFile. It was a TMP file loaded into C:\Windows\System !!!!!!!
Now for my 2nd question....how do I change my BIOS settings so computer looks at A:drive first? Im afraid that if I ever need to use emergency Boot disk, I wont be able to!!!!

You should try a system /restore and go back to a date before the problem started...I think that you can only go back 4 days and restore it to a good working registry.

Specifically metions that it will properly deal with http://mycpworld.com.
Freebie

There should be a boot sequence in the "advanced" section of cmos. Change it until you get a: first and c: second.

In response to all those who are having problems with mycpworld. I have the same problems no matter what I do every time iconect to my home page it goes to mycpworld. I sincerely do not know what to do, I have run vieus programs but nothing works. I would love if someone can hack to the site and destroy it for ever. Please help and keep me posted. Thanks Bernabe Reyes

Did you try the suggestions posted above? They seem to be the answer to the mypcworld problem.
>"I have the same problems no matter what I do"
What, specifically, have you tried so far?

sorry to tell you all this, but I've had this thing for over a week now. I delete temp files every single night and it's still here. I can't get rid if it. help before I have to restore my comp. btw I even upgraded to 6.0 in the hopes of getting rid of it.

did you read this entire thread? the thing isn't in your temp files, and is independent of the version of internet explorer you use. Read response #3 and #5 for the solution.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\rad139co.tmp
DELETE THIS FILE AND GOTO C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSCONFIG.exe OPEN THIS EXE AND GOTO STARTUP UNCLICK C:\WINDOWS\REGEDIT.EXE/sC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\rad139CO.tmpTHEN RESTART YOUR COM...... bye bye sh@ty mycpworld.com

I'm sorry to tell you b-side... I'm haveing the same problem with mycpworld, and you recipe... It doesn't work. sorry...
