Comment:

I have just been given a HP7200 CD rewriter. The drive opens and closes. Lights come on when CD inserted. It ios picked up by the computer (WIn95C) but when trying to access the cd from Explorer it tells me the drive is not ready.
Where do I start looking for the problem?

Is that with or without a cd in the drive?

Had a similar problem when I had a CDRW in the drive. Discovered that I had to have Direct CD program running to access the CD.

HTH,
Bill
