I just got an hp digital home networking wireless USB adapter. The model number is hn210w. I have a 802.11 Wireless-G Network at my house. All my other computers work fine on the network but when I tried to plug this card into a windows 98 second edition machine I got it won't work properly. The system tray has a green light indicating it is connected to the wireless network but the DHCP server won't assign the computer an ip address. I ran winipcfg but it just gives the windows default ip indicating DHCP isn't working. The wireless card I have is a Wireless-B one but my Belkin Wireless-G router should be compatible with it. I have all the updated drivers and everything indicates it is working properly and since the DHCP works for the other computers I assume it's not a problem with the router. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this?
Thanks a lot

First go to your network settings in control panel. On the TCP/IP protocol click the properties button. Comfirm that you have the computer set to obtain IP automatically.
You may need to review you encryption settings. It might be a closed network with a shared key. Near enough is not good enough, one wrong digit and it won't communicate.

You might try posting this on the networking forum for a faster response
Growing old is unavoidable, growing up however is stll optional

I doubled checked the WEP key and I know my wireless network isn't shared so I'm not sure what's going on. It's set for obtain an ip address automatically and I even tried adding the gateway to no avail. I'll post this on the networking forum.
