Comment:

I have been trying to use an HP Scanjet 4100C scanner for about 5 months. The message I keep receiving is that the escanner is being used by another application. My system is a Packard Bell SP4098 running Windows 98

I'd really appreciate your help.
Thanks
Mario

I have an HP ScanJet 4100C scanner, and for several months, I have the consistent problem that the computer does not recognize the scanner when selecting the program. I have a SONY PCV-E314DS computer, operating on Windows 98, and a USB connector, which is supposed to be designed for the scanner. When selecting the scanner program, the following messages are read:
1)- Unknown hardware, or
2)- Is in use with another program.

The computer also has a separate "i LINK" connector for a video camera.

This has been a consistent problem since I purchased the scanner, except for a while it does operate, and then falls back into the same pattern as indicated above.

I have tried to re-install, but after recent attempts, the computer will still not accept the scanner.

Please advise of the solution.

Thank you.
