This printer has eluded every attempt to install under Windows 98SE. But I know it can be done because it works fine on the old system I'm replacing.
Using the supplied HP install CD-Rom, the scanner drivers and software go in just fine, but I can't get the Printer Drivers to load.
I've tried to manually install the printer driver with "add a printer" feature in Win 98, but the CD-Rom refuses to let me open the printer driver folder. On the Internet, I discovered that the necessary printer driver is a 160 Megabyte download! Can you believe it?
Question - What folder in Win 98 contains installed printer drivers? I'm considering copying the required driver through USB from the old hard drive to the new one.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks.

Before you can successfully install any USB device, you first need to ensure that the USB drivers for the motherboard are correctly installed.

Go here for installation:

Thanks for all suggestions. Ham30, your tip made the difference. But it took 5 attempts and 4 uninstalls to get everything right.
This was a bit of a bear because the computer must reboot TWICE to get all drivers and software loaded. If anything goes wrong during the first reboot, you will never get to the finish line on the 2nd reboot!
Thanks Again.
