I have one of those HP printers that show the "HP 710C not found on LPT1" during installation. (same with the 712, 720, and 722 models)
I've spent many hours trying to install my 710C with every possible combination and trick known, including a format.
I have Win95-B, AMD K-5 processor, A-OPEN board, and all my other parallel devices work fine, except the 710 printer. Anyone have the same problem or know a solution? Thanks

My HP 540 always installs itself. If I install Windows, I have it connected and turned on. It always finds the printer.

Is your parallel port enabled in bios?

Also, hp has an ftp with drivers: ftp.hp.com, and there's always www.windrivers.com to check for the latest ones.

My Bios is set to PnP aware, port settings of SPP, EPP or ECP makes no difference. I have three sets of latest drivers, one from HP by Fed Ex. All my other parallel devices work fine. My old Lexmark printer works no matter what I do to it, so I ordered a new Lexmark 5700. It installed in 8 seconds. The HP? Two weeks and it still sits there, dead. The printer or software has a bug but HP won't admit it and was no help at all. I've heard from many with the same problem in the last few days. I also had two other techs here and we couldn't get the HP to install. HP makes good products, but this "printer of the week" wasn't one of them. Thanks for the response.

Hi.

Have not posted here previously. Would like someone to answer via e-mail, please. When my electricity went "off" the other day, and since that time, my printer (HP Deskjet 600) has not been working. I tried re-installing it, but the bottom light on the printer blinks continuously and nothing seems to print. When I open the front cobver, nothing happens, which is different from usual, as the carriage holding the ink cartridge should move to the center. Essentially, nothing is working. I tried trading it with one my wife has, but it did the same. Anyone got any ideas?

Having the same problems here with an HP 720C. Rec'd disks from HP and still can't get it installed. Was told this has something to do with upgrading to Windows 98.

hp710c won't work on network (lan). I cannot print from any of the workstations directly to the 710c printer. I have already installed the printer among the workstations and server. I can only print using the server network neiborhood and calling the workstation where the data for print is stored or saving the data on a 1.44 floppy and print using the server connected to the printer.

I have the same problem on network of client. Phoned HP who suggested installing the HP550 or HP560 drivers. Did this, still doesn't work. Thus no remedy to the problem yet.

The 710 will print across a network - you have to load the driver on all the networked machines and do a port capture thing- I cant remember exactly how which is why I am here- the procedure is on the web somewhere. When you find it please post here or e me the link.

I have a HP Deskjet 670C Printer and was connected to my other computer but I've moved it to this computer and it won't instal the same as on the other one.
I can instal it at HP DeskjetPlus but the colour won't print (even after I purchased & installed a new ink cartridge. The other choice it gives me is HP Deskjet 670C Series Printer but this computer does not detect this. Do I have to download that program off the net for I did not get a disc with this printer. Can you help? Please e-mail me ASAP.

Solution to HP720c etc installation over an ethernet network.
1) Install and test printer on host computer
2) Install printer on other networked computers using Network Neighbourhood > locate target printer > right click > Click Install.
3)Right click as above > click Capture Printer Port > select device as LPT2 (or one higher than you have installed already. Click OK.
4)Click START > Settings > Printers > Right Click on HP720c > Click Properties >Details. Select "Print to the following port" to LPT2 (or whatever you used above.
5)Click General Tab > Print Test Page.
6) Yippee!!

Having tried only 1) & 2) many times, getting lost communication error followed by a lock up, this worked fine for me first time. Good luck. Send me an e-mail if it helps.
