Recently i have been experiencing problems with HP printers and win98. The problems arose with a DJ890c from a few years back that works great and i have no problems with, execept for the lines in black text. I did everything imagianble to fix that problem: new cartidges, every printer alignment test, wiping off gunk from the cartridges...everything, didnt fix a dam thing. I finally went out and purchased a new 960cse and to my disappointment found it is doing the same thing. the color looks great, even black text on a grey background looks good, but just plain black text still has blank lines in the letters. After that i tried a new parallel cable, still no fix. Im out of ideas, im thinking something is messed up in win98 or my drivers which i downloaded from hp.com. anyone with some ideas to pursue would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Have you contacted HP support to see if they have any ideas? Their site is very good and I generally get a response within 24 hours on questions asked. A 960cse is a solid machine, you could have a point or maybe some sort of minor spool error or page setup? I am using 98se with a HP 1218 and the color is fantastic and the text is sharp. I wish I could help you more, good luck
