The Win98 install has nothing to do with your CD boot issue. You need to access the BIOS & reconfigure the boot order. Make sure the CD drive is listed before the HDD, then save & exit.

Are you now trying to install Vista or W98?

If Vista, is it a full Vista CD?

Presumably you booted with the CD already in the drive.

Please come back and let us know the outcome.

Sometimes even if a drive is in the boot order it needs to be enabled as a boot drive. If that's the case with yours then an enabled drive will usually have a checkmark by it in the boot order list.
