Hi,I am running Win98 and using a HP Pavilion 4530 w/X50 Pavilion Monitor.
My problem is that the words and letters on my screen are blurry. It is possible to read but it does give me a headache. I went to HP Support..and tried to download drivers for the monitor but my monitor HP X50 - 15 inch (D7438a) doesnot show up in my downloaded driver list...it is using the monitor and drivers for the HP D5258A Pavilion M50 Monitor...could this be my problem? Or do I need a new Video Card..if yes what would be a good replacement for my SIS 530?
Thanks
Trudy

Sounds like you need a new monitor. Have you tried it on another computer?
There should be an adjustment inside the monitor for focus but if you have no experience I would suggest having someone else do the work.

HP put out a really bad batch of 15" and 17" monitors a couple of years ago that would get dim and blurry. You might be able to adjust it a little if you open it, but its not going to help much. Time to pitch it in the dumpster and buy a new or used one. I've replaced plenty of these monitors so I'm pretty familiar with them. Also, if you are using a video extension cable, that might cause this problem.

You have received some exellent advice. Your
flyback is going south. That gives you the
focus voltage. You can adjust it back if you
know what you are doing but that just prolongs the inevitable. Go monitor shopping.
Sorry about this but if you get 3 of the same answers to your problem, they know what they are talking about.Try and have a good
weekend anyway.
