Specs: Windows XP
I got a used computer from a friend HP Pavilion 8655C Windows 98. The computer works but it runs slow there are things on the computer that need to go. I want to do a system recovery. She gave me the original disk 1 and 2 for the system recovery. They had never even been opened. So I followed the directions, but my system is not recovered. I will get to a certain point where it says "Recovery Aborted" on a blue screen. Please help me... Im going to start school to better my life, Im a single mom, I cant get another computer. It boots up fine, it operates okay...I just need to retore the system back to original factory.

Is the computer currently running Win98 or something else?

Before you go wiping the existing Windows installation I suggest you try to clean up the files, which may speed things up.

Conversely, if you are used to a newer computer the Win98 rig may be running as fast as it is capable of.

The link below is for the HP specs on that model. It indicates it came with 256MB of RAM, which should be enough to run Win98 SE, which originally came on it.

What type of media did you receive for the restore set?

Try downloading and using Ccleaner Slim - cleaner module. Get it at the link below.
