Hi,
This may be a very broad question.
I have an external burner, an HP8200 series.
It's worked fine, but recently when I used the software and it asked me to insert a disc, it just kept whirring and whizzing until ultimatley it opened the tray and a message asked me to put in another disc.
I assumed it was a bad disc, tried another, and it worked.
Well now it does it all the time with every brand of disc I use.
Has this happened to anyone else?
The computer recognizes that the burner is there, and it SAYS the device is working properly.
I recently replaced my power source, and I'm desperate to back-up my system before anything else goes wrong!
Incidentally, this started BEFORE I replaced my power source, but it only became permanent AFTER I replaced it.
Any connection?Cheers!

Hey Jamie!!
I just come here to ask for you.
I've been browsing and some places say to re-install the burning software.Mum.

How nice, a family re-union. Hi Maureen, nice to meet you at last Jamie.
What are you trying to do with the CDs? It sounds like you are copying a large amount of data which will not fit on one CD and the software is disk spanning.

They know my mum here!
Geek!
:pIt's not even getting to the point where it'll ask what i want to put ON my disc.
Cleaning it is a rather obvious suggestion...too obvious for me.
I'm gonna use what little compressed air I have left and blow it out and see what happens.Cheers!
