I think it can be done by network neighborhood, properties, and select a different primary network login..........add a new client

If you're going to network your computers (share w/others) then you'll have to put up with it. If your machine connects to any other network computer, you have to log into it. If you untick the Connect at Startup box, then you'll only have to log in when you actually access the machine. However, if your startup begins with accessing a network printer, then ... you'll have to log into that machine. Sorry 'bout that.

Hi Anonymous, Bob, bigtall, beansoup, Don Miller, hi everyone

"I can't set it to windows Logon because then my network file sharing and printer sharing won't work."
Strange...

I have just now set my computer (running Windows 98 SE) to Windows Logon, normally it's set to Client for Microsoft Networks, and rebooted. All my shared drives/folders stayed shared and are perfectly accessible from within a other computer on the network.
The option Enable File and Printer sharing also was still available. So I can without a problem create a new share, and access it from a other computer.

Psychiatric help! Added to my list for resolutions.
:-)
And this time the link isn't broken...

Hi Anonymous, Bob, bigtall, beansoup, Don Miller, hi everyone

Thanks for also posting the question here again, makes it easier for everyone to keep track of.

Sure there is a way around. :-)

Do a search in the Windows folder for the current Username and delete the username.pwl file.

Reboot, at the Windows logon screen don't enter a password. Thus click on OK, you'll be prompted to confirm the "password", again leaving the password fields empty click on OK.
When you leave it blank, the next time you reboot Windows won't be nagging about it anymore.

Hope this helps, keep us posted.

Best Regards,
The Count

Hi Anonymous gtaman, Bob, bigtall, beansoup, Don Miller, hi everyone

Glad to see it worked. :-)
Thanks for getting back with us. It's appreciated!

I presume you are still able to access the shared drives/folders from within other computers.
Right?

Best Regards,
From us all, or is it me %-)
