I am trying to use my Samsung Digital camcorder through firewire to use as a webcam in netmeeting. but the options for selecting the video capture source in netmeeting are grayed out.
it works fine in Videostudio for normal video capture but why notin netmeeting. Also it appears in device manager as "digital camera and vcr" as u would expect."1394 controller" is also there.
so whats wrong

any ideas guys?

The input through the 1394 port is a compressed digital stream. Netmeeting requires a real time analog video input.
Someone has to write a decoder interface.

You can actually use a dv cam for netmeeting by installing the trackercam software available at the following site.
http://www.trackerpod.com/index1.htm

Once your camcorder is connected to the computer, open the trackercam program and ensure that it picks up your camcorder as the video source. Then open Netmeeting. It will pick up trackercam as the video source and you should be able to send video images with your dv cam.

hi moonchang if u're still around. This wasnt my system so took me a while to go round and try out tracker-cam; worked a treat in the end! thanks a million..
I suggested to this guy i to use his camcorder instead of buying a webcam invest in a firewire card- my cred was on the line here so this is much appreciated.
thanx also to wizard-fred
