How to set Swap File?

Comment:

I try to set my Swap File to my newer, faster Drive. It all looks well in the Virtual Memory Dialog Box, but when it has rebooted, it has reverted to "Let Windows manage my swap file". In fact going straight back into the Dialog Box shows me that it has already happened then.

How do I make this setting "stick"?

Lots of good ideas there, anver, but as for Virtual Memory, that is what I have been doing. I am missing something...

Jr,

Do I need to? I have never done that in my life. I am the only user. If I need to, how do I do this?

Hi Terry@NZ,

How much RAM are you using?

The fact that it shows that Windows is managing it is not really true. Windows is managing it to some degree but from the location that you have dictated.

To verify the location of your swapfile; search your hard drives for "win386.swp" and you will see that it is stored right were you directed it to be.

Bryco,

You are right: swap file is just where I said to put it, just a smidgeon larger that the minimum size I set it, and last modified yesterday. I guess that is about what I should expect.

Not that it matters :-) but I have 128 MB.

Thanks all you guys (and guyesses??)
