Hey there
I am totally clueless on how to scan with my brother mfc-9870. I've installed the drivers from brother.com but the machine itself has no key (that I can find) to make it scan. The manuals talk of some sort of OCR-program, but needless to say, I've lost all the original CDs and the manual :) Anyone familiar with this machine or the related models, give me a hand please.

Yup, I've download the driver software and succesfully installed them. They however contain no scanner utility or option for scanner. Scanner driver is succesfully installed, but that gives little relief.
The manual, as far as i was able to read it, doesn't hold a single word about scanning. It however says, that scanner and software are compatible with any TWAIN using software. What are these softwares, can they help me scan and where can they be downloaded for free? If not, how in the world is one supposed to scan something with this thing.

It appeared, I needed a scanning program, like scanout (downloadable from download.com) to do this for me. It's working now.
