Subject: How to repair Apacer HANDY STENO
OS: win98SE
CPU/Ram: Pentium II, 130 MB
Comment:

Symptoms of the defective USB storage stick under Windows98SE are :
- it is seen by 'Device Manager' as
"USB Diagnostic device" instead of
"USB Mass Storage device"
- it is not available in 'Windows Explorer'.
However it still works under Windows2000 - UNIX - Apple Mac OS

How to proceed :
(You need WindowsME or 2000 or XP for repair)
go to : http://www.apacer.com/en/support/downloads.asp
select : 'Product Category':"USB Flash Drives"
'Download Type' :"Utility"
'Model No.' :"Select All Products"
then : "Submit"
on the following page
select for download any of the utilities : "Handy Steno 2.0 Repair Tool"
(they are all the same)
download the resulting zip-package :
"HS2.0_Utility_Repair.zip" (239,14 KB)
unzip the package, print "Repair Procedure.pdf"
and execute all the shown "Handy Steno 2.0 Repair Steps" by running "Repair.exe".
Note : also this repair tool is only for Handy Steno HT202, TN202, SL202,
it perfectly and exactly worked for my Handy Steno 1.1 (purchased in 2002)
