Can somebody help on this one please/?
I got an old laptop (pentim mmx/233mhx/32ram) with win95. I wanna change this old OS to WIN98...
I would like to know how to do this step by step...
if anybody would not mind helping me please..
Thanks a lot!

When you begin the '98 install you have the option of deleting the current partition and creating a new one.
However, '95, IMHO, is better suited for that machine.
Best Luck,
Bob

First we have to know a little about the hardware and software.
1 - Is this going to be a clean install?
2 - Are we installing from CD?
3 - What version of Win98 do you have?
4 - Does you laptop have both floppy and CD drives?
5 - Are both drive available at the same time?
6 - Do you have all the device drivers (video, sound, pcmcia, usb, etc) for Win98 ready to use?
7 - Do you have a boot floppy that recognizes the CD?
8 - Do you know how to access the BIOS in your laptop? With this information, we can probably get you off to a good start.

If you do not have a windows 98 upgrade cd
you can copy the "WIN98" folder to your HD restart in dos mode and rename WIN.COM and WINVER.exe (must be in dos mode to do this!) which are in the windows 95 folder usually "C:\windows" then run setup from the win98 folder and the windows 98 full version will still upgrade the windows 95, or if you want windows 95 gone completely, follow above steps except cancel the install after making a startup floppy and use it to format your hard drive then install off the cd. or if you have an upgrade ad stil want 95 gone simply insert the 98 cd and run setup but cancel after making startup disk. Don't forget to save any files you want to keep, and if all this sounds a little to complicated to understand DON'T TRY IT you could completly ease your Hard disk and not have any way to start your computer. you will need to be familiar with dos-mode and dos commands to do this if you arn't DON'T TRY IT! Good luck! :)Nathan
P.S. my email may not work it's been months since I was last able to check it.
