I have a number of items in the Startup Tab in msconfig that I unticked in the process of troubleshooting. Some of these I now want permanently deleted. How do I do this?

If you mean you want the unticked entries to be cleared out of the startup tab - you can edit the registry. Run REGEDIT and navigate down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software Microsoft Windows Current Version Run- and delete entries from right hand screen then look at RunServices- and delete anything there on right hand screen Exit Regedit When you go back to Startup in MSconfig, only your ticked entries will be showing. Good luck...Krystyna

Thanks, Krystyna, it worked. At the end, there were still a couple of items left. I found they could be removed by deleting their link in Start/Programs/Disabled Startup Items.

Krystyna, I edited my registry as you suggested but could not find the items listed in my msconfig startup tab. I did a search in the registry and couldn't find it either. When I search my harddrive for references system.dat and user.dat come up. Any other guesses?

After I disabled them in msconfig I then deleted them from the Disabled Startup Items off the start menu. That cleared the rest.
