I was wondering. How do I remove the little monitor from my systray? I just got a new video card, and it has its own icon in the systray to adjust monitor properties, so i no longer need the windows one.

Hi,

From Control Panel run Screen and on the Settings tab uncheck the box "Icon it the Task Bar" (or something like that).

Good luck, Igor M

You could also look in C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup to see if there is an icon for that Program in there and delete it, it's only a shortcut, or right click the icon in the tray and it might say 'close' or 'exit' or might have an 'options' box to change the setting.

I would like to remove some applications that run on start-up, from the systray, one s that I never asked to be there, I have looked in the windows start-up folder and also autoexec.bat and configsys, but they appear to be untraceable.
I would be grateful for any ideas please.

I would also like to know how to remove or re-sequence the icons in my systray. A procedure or utility would be appreciated greatly!
Thanks,
John Wilson

Response #1 answered the question about removing the display properties.
To answer the question about removing other things from the systray--- You need to go into the registry and search fro the word run make sure you mark the box that says match whole string only. Keep searching through all the run lines until you find the program that you want to remove. To get to the registery if you dont know: You can type REGEDIT on start\run line.
