I wanna buy laptop computer soon, but I'm willing to install japanese windows instead of english windows.(I have japanese win98cd complete version) My friend told me that it is not easy to reinstall with external cdrom. He said that I have to know MS-DOS. If you can tell me how to do this, please let me know.
Thanks.

Not sure what type of interface your cdrom
has, but goto www.bootdisk.com and download a
bootdisk with cdrom support. It will create
the bootdisk for you. Try out the bootdisk
to see if it sees the cdrom drive.

All you need to do is get the external cdrom DOS Driver, most external cdrom today only use wins Drivers,
Boot into DOS,
Load DOS Driver,
c:\>md wins98 enter
c:\>cd enter
c:\win98>copy ?:\wins98 enter
c:\win98>setup enter
(? is for the CD-ROM)But if wins is loaded (english )and the CD-ROM is working,
copy the win98(japanese) folder from CD the HDD,(c:\win98)
bootdisk to DOS,
at a:\ type c:\ enter, to get c:\
type
c:\>ren windows winold enter
type
c:\>cd win98 enter, for c:\win98>
type
c:\win98>setup enter
load wins98
then delete winold
you should now have wins japanese and not wins english, ok
