If you want to view the contents of the file, just right click on the .LST file and select open with..now choose notepad.

if it is system.1st in c:\ you are trying to open .. dont bother .. it is a copy of the original registry after windows was installed.
if you have a corrupt registry this file can be renamed and copied to c:\windows as system.dat to replace the corrupt registry.
