I have two network cards in both of my 98SE's. How do you network one with the other so I can share files?

Its very simple actually...well it was for me anyway, i can only hope it will work for you aswell. Go to my computer...control panel...network. Click on the button that says "File and print sharing" and click both boxes. Then click on the Identification tab and in the text fields...create a computer name, and a computer descripton aswell as a workgroup. For both computers, the workgroup should be the same, like.."Jones Family" or something like that. Click on the access manager tab, ensure share level access is enabled. Also, in mine...the TCP/IP and my network adapter's primary network logon are set to "Client for microsoft networks" Which can be changed in the configuration tab. Hope that works.

I already did click both file and pring sharing boxes. I already have share-level access. Set primary network logon to "Client for Microsoft networks.

I think it might be the hardware: I don't have a hub, and i have a 4 line telephone jack. I tried using direct cable connection but i don't have the right cable (male 25pin to male 25pin)

What kind of wire/hardware do i need?

Thanks

You need a cat5 crossover cable to connect the two network cards.

.. likewise, to use DCC you'd require a 'parallel file transfer' cable, not a straight cable. Since you have NICs already though, go that route, as the data transfer rate is far superior.

I'm just looking for clues at the scene of the crime
