I very much doubt you will be able to install the OS by copying the files on the CD to a partition on your harddrive. It might be possible, and if it is, I'm sure someone will chime in here shortly.

At any rate, I'm a bit confused by your problem. You want to install Windows 98, and you have a CD drive ("G:\"), why not jsut pop in the CD and install as normal?

"Copy Win98 from the CD to the Hard Drive" go down to option #3. Note: C: is the hdd and D: is the cd drive, use correct letters for hdd and cd drive if different.

If you mean in DOS;
After you copy the (XP) i386 directory to your hard disk, change to the i386 directory and run WINNT.exe.

It's a good day when you learn something

Is it your intent to install WinXP on a computer without a CD drive? Installing Win98 on an older computer without a CD drive is understandable. Please explain what circumstances require you to install WinXP in the manner you ask help on.
