I reformated the C drive and lost the D drive. Now I can't get my Windows 95 (on a CD) installed. Please help me with step-by-step instructions on how to get my D drive back.

Did you save a copy of MSCDEX.exe before you formatted, if not you cannot use your CD-Rom even if you have installed it's drivers. You should be able to get a copy from the machine you are on now [it's in C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\] and put it in your boot disc forever, then copy it to C: and re-install your CD-Rom drivers again and reboot and you should have it then. I won't tell you about when I did the same thing when I was just setting out in all this because the other guys here will just laugh at me, our little secret aye.

Yan You can ask your friend to borrow the Win98 boot up disk to reboot your computer, because the Win98 boot up disk can automatically detect your CDRom drive. It is very easy.
