Best to make certain you have all of your drivers copied to disk before you even start a format.

Without them you will be back here screaming!

Hi Jeffiner...!

Was in the land of Bush for a month...; though hardly found any of his fans...

Tromped around the mid-west (mountains, canyons, desert...) - wonderful to get open space, quiet..., clear air... and the rest... and no technology...!

Since you are the lucky owner of a Dell computer :-), You can format and reinstall very easily by doing the following:

When you start your computer, hold down the CTRL key and press F11 to access the system recovery wizard.

The reinstall software 'should' be in a hidden partition on your hard drive.

For the reinstall are you useing the IBM recovery cd ? or a MS cd ? If a recovery cd it should install all drivers needed for components that was installed when comp was made. If you changed any card then that is a different story.

IF it is a MS cd you will need to go to IBM's site and download the motherboard drivers and any others for your hardware.

What model is the comp ? More help can be given.

Not to worry Carlos. If you use the Dell recovery Wizard, it will install all the drivers.

not sure there's too much difference these days... Dell and IBM frequently seem to use same source(s)/manufacturers for their MoBo etc... - especially for laptops. Dell frequently install IBM drives - the infamous deathstar being just one...

Probably use same sourced screens too for laptops?

Anyway, if he runs the recovery software for whatever manufacturer it is, it will restore his operating system along with the drivers.
