Hi, I would like to format my hardsik and reinstall my win 98 SE.
I don't have a boot disk, can the win98 se CD-rom be used to boot the computer?
Or can I get the boot disk from my friend's computer which is still using win 95?
When I format the hardisk, is that mean every software problem I got with the windows will be overcomed?
After formating , other than reinstalling thw windows 98 SE and other driver(printer, modem), do I need to install the driver for my Pentium III proceesor and video card too? Pls tell me how?
As you may see from my message, I am a very new beginner in this kind of things, pls help, I wold appreciate very much.

First of all, Why would you NOT have a START UP DISK, when Windows prombts you for one?
IF you have the Full Version OEM CD that probably came with your machine, can probably do what you are wanting to do. I would submit that you should check with the manufacture of the machine, surely they have some tech support you can contact.
I would get some help if I were you. If I were your next door neighbor I could do it for you, but, there are variables with every machine.

if you need a windows 98 se startup disk you can e-mail me and i will send you one.
my e-mail is: homewrecker80@hotmail.com

to overcome some software problems in windows you will have to delete the partition and the mbr
to do this use fdisk and delete the primary dos partition and then make a new one.
then do a:fdisk /mbr after you have inserted your boot disk and this will delete your master boot record.
you will then have to reboot and format the c: with a boot disk in the computer type
a:format c:
hope it works,if it doesnt post again

Make your own Start Up disk, go into Start, Settings, Add/Remove Programs. Click on the tab at the top that says Start Up Disk. put in a floppy & make it.
After booting w/the floppy, format you drive (yes you will lose it ALL, and have to reinstall the particular drivers that comes with all your peripherals, video card, etc.)
with the a:\format /s command to format & transfer the system files to the hard drive. Then run Windows Setup.
