Hi;
I have two physically hard drives. One is 16 GB in master, and one is 6 GB in slave. The 6 GB is used for storage only. NO operating system install in here. So I use the 16 GB for OS.
What I want to do is that using this 16GB to run both OS (win98 and winNT) and both of them should shared files and see each other and both of them could see files from the 6GB storage hard drive.
I use Partition Magic 4.0. The 16 GB is now totally blank and in FAT32. How do I dual boot for winNT workstation and win98?

I know this message is long. But PLease help me in details. I have read several messages in here, but have no clue.

Thanks for any help here.I am clueless.

Hey dude

I would suggest making your 6 GB master and 17GB slave

Windows NT will not install on to a FAT32 partiton(right viewers), so make sure the disk is formatted in FAT 16 (you can check how the drive is configured by rightclicking on the eg C: icon and selecting properties)If it is in FAT32 you will need to FDisk (rather than a 3rd party utility like Partition magic which may put some lines in your Autoexec.bat or config.sys.

Install win9x to your 6GB master. Once this is done, you can load Winnt onto same drive as win98. Note Winnt will want a network card, If you do have a network card, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE I/O ADDRESS AND IRQ USED ( THIS CAN BE FOUND BY LOOKIN AT YOUR WIN98 CONFIGURATION, If you get it wrong NT will have no mercy and you will have to start NT installation again) If you do not have a NIC (network card) you can choose to install a "Microsoft Loopback adapter" which makes your system emmulate networking (the easiest thing to say without confusing you too much more)

When NT is installed,it knows to put a boot menu into your system; so when you startup you will have a choice Between Win98, Winnt and Winnt in VGA mode (Low Res for trouble shooting Graphics etc)

Contrary to MS your 17GB (presuming slave) can be FAT32, but you will not see the drive in NT until you run a Patch called "FAT32 read and Write for WINNT"

Two Tips:
1. Im certain your first install will crapout :)
2. When loading NT you will come to a "Display Setup" for your Video card resolution. Leave it at the default, test it then change it later

I strongly recommend you converting BOTH drives to FAT16, as if is better than FAT32 (it is faster)
