I have a Emachine 466is running win98se, at first boot I get the White screen with emachine on it, I can bypass it by hitting the TAB key, but I want to disable it so I can see what info is being displayed behind it, and I want to remove the Win98 splash screen also, anyone know how to do this?
I have run thru verious sections of the system but cant find anything for the emachine splash screen, I found the win98 logo, can I simply remove this to prevent that splash screen?
appreciate any help.......thanx

can't remember what the key is exactly but the emachines web site does have a way to talk live with emachine techs online for free and they'll tell you how to bypass the screen. I had to do it once, but I can't remember exactly what key it was I used.

im sure that in msdos.sys if you set bootgui to 0 the splash screen wont show. .. . .. .
bf u edit msdos.sys you have to change the attributes too dont forget.

Sorry not sure how I managed that.Anyway note the line Logo=0 back up C:\msdos.sys and add that line via notepad.

Re response #3; If you set BootGUI=0, windows won't start. (GUI=Graphic User Interface) You'll have to type "win" at the dos prompt. Response 6 is right. It's LOGO=0 to eliminate the windows start up screen.
