For dos/command prompt you use the DEL command. Often it will be hidden or read-only and you have to use the ATTRIB command first.

But if you can't find it in a windows session you're unlikely to find it from command prompt either. What you need to do is run some antivirus or antimalware software. Let it find the virus and remove it. That's what it's for.

Are you running Win95 or WinXP? And why do you want to attempt to remove a virus using DOS. Install a decent virus/malware remover, update it & run it. Stay away from McAfee & Norton/Symantec. If you're running Win95, your only choice is ClamWin. No one else is supporting the 17 yr old OS.

You are on the Win 95/98 forum yet your spec says XP. Which is it?

I'm still running Avast old version 4.8.0 on my Win98 and, so far, it continues to update. You can also update using files from their website. The advantage in Avast is that it works in real-time. Not sure whether it would work on Win 95 tho.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
