Here is a way to delete typed urls but I have tried every way posted to get rid of urls that I clicked on as a link. I have used every way including clearing history(which gets rid of the drop down window ones) to deleting index.dat, cookies and history in DOS. I have my autocomlete turned off but that can be turned on by anyone. Just type "Delete address bar searches" in the search box at top of computing.net and there are endless discussions about this subject. Sorry about all the rambling. Here is the suggestion:

Deleting Typed URL's

After a while, your Address box can become full of manually typed URL's of places you've recently visited. You can trim this list down or even remove all of the entries for a fresh start. Here's how.

Run REGEDIT (Start,Run...,Regedit)

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/TypedURLs

Select some or all values except (Default) in the right pane

Hit the delete key and confirm.

The more I read your post it got me to wondering if you meant how to clear searches from your Yahoo Home Page search. You cannot clear anything on their page. But when you search on their page it puts the resulting links address in your address bar and therefore in your search history just like you put it there. I just tried a search on yahoo and then changed windows and typed in the exact url and it was there on the drop down list. Hope this helps.

Hey, where's the poster? Seems we are not sure what he/she is asking.

IF you mean the list of "typed" URLs which appear on drop down in Internet Explorer it is very easy to clear the lot without any need to go to the registry.

You just go Start button, Settings, Taskbar & Start Menu, Start Menu Programs. Hit the Clear button. This will also clear your Windows Documents list.

I think he measn the search selection at the top of the page by the favorites and history buttons. I had this problem and cleared it by going into regedit, but don't remember the exact keys to delete to clear it.

To clear that look in the side window when it opens and check on "previous searches" and click the "Clear" button at the bottom of the previous searches.

Not sure about Yahoo...but I spent a couple of hours researching how to clear out the 'previous searches' list on Google...it even migrates to Netscape.
Turned out to be simple: put the mouse pointer over the entry on the drop down list, and when it highlights : hit delete.
Poof...gone.

G'day Sparks, just for the record, that is the Auto Complete function which can also be totally cleared from the Internet Options>Content>AuotComplete button after you make your choice.

They are kept in the Regsitry in encoded form at this location

Hkey_Local_Machine
+ Software
.+ Microsoft
..+ Protected Storage System
...+ 'Username'
....+ Data
.....+ e161255a-37c3-11d2-bcaa-00c04fd929db
......+ e161255a-37c3-11d2-bcaa-00c04fd929db

Even your name and subject title that you type in here at Computing.net is stored there as well [name:StringData, name:StringIndex, subject:StringData, subject:StringIndex] if the Auto Complete is on, even the My Computing.net name is there too. All search engines use different prefixes plus all Website login username/passwords are kept here too.

Google starts with;

as_q:, as_epq:, as_oq:, as_eq: [advanced search strings] or q: [simple search]

Hope this was useful

I think that I was having the same problem. I thought that it was a setting in Windows XP, but RR with response 10 was right. It was only in the internet settings and all you have to do is clear the history.
Thanks
