Subject: How to Boot my Laptop from the PCMCIA Ne
Comment:

I get a problem with my laptop. It does not have any drive, but I get a PCMCIA NIC. Can I boot the laptop from the network card taking the necessary files from one of my computers in the LAN?

How do I do this?

My laptop is a NEC Versa DayLite with no unit drives (neither external drives). It already has a network card built-in, but I have another NIC card wich is a SMC8040TX.

Thanks.

does it even have floppy drive?
If you have no drive at all then you can remove the hard drive and put in the desk top machine as a master in the second ide cable using the dater of course. format it with the sys install and copy the cab file from the cd rom ( make a folder called 'win98' or 'win95' for what ever os you have to the laptop drive, put it back in the laptop, it wil start in dos, change directory to 'win98' type setup.
