how can I save my system registry
before modifications
and how restore it if the modification was not good
thanks :-)))

Windows makes a Registry backup every time you shut down. If there is an error in your registry, your computer may crash. If this happens, you can restore the registry to its state when you last successfully started your computer.
To restore the registry:
Click Start, and then click Shut Down. Click Restart in MS-DOS mode, and then click Yes. At the MS-DOS prompt, type
scanreg /restore. Restart your computer.

Hi,
If you have Windows CD, look at the Other/Misc/Eru folder. Here you'll find the program for Registry (and other system files) backup.
Good luck, Igor M

the registry is actually two files SYSTEM.DAT and USER.DAT. They are hidden, system files. SYSTEM.DAT stores info pertaining to the computer config and USER.DAT stores info relating to user preferences. You can reset the file attributes to normal, make a backup of these files as usual and then turn the hidden/system attribute back on

If you type regedit in the RUN program, then in the registry program go to Registry=>Export Registry File and name it and save it on your desktop, then edit all you want and if you want to change it back, then go to your desktop and run that file you made before and answer "yes" to "Do you want to import this file into your registry"
Don't trust this too much, i have'nt tried and tested it completely. you can use it and experiment with it.

Open C:\windows\regedit.exe
Click to:
Registary > Export registary File.
(Makes a back up you can save e.g floppy)Run in to a Problem type scanreg /restore at a dos promt.
Alternativley: At Dos Promt type format C:
