I usually leave my computer on and rarely if ever turn it off. There have been months were it has been constantly on. If I am not at the computer, it goes to "sleep" -- powers down the monitor and the hard disks.
I've never had any problems... I heard a few years ago that your computer lasts longer if you leave it running rather than turn it on and off.
Of course if you leave it on you need to have a screen saver for your monitor if it doesn't have energy saver settings.

Can leave it on or off. Some say the constant on and off will weaken the solder joints from heat and cold. I've turned mine on and off for years and no problems. I live in the woods and am only concerned about mice chewing through the cord if I'm not around, or a fire hazard. The elec rates are the highest in the nation where I live which is a factor too.
Leave it on if you either don't pay utilities (like me) or turn it off. The rumor you heard several years ago was true however, with the developments in silicon technology over the past few years, components inside the computer are resilient to the routine of turning computers on and off several times a day.

Fox

It's OK to leave it turned on...but you may want to satisfy it eventually!
Summary: Ad-Aware goes into the W98SE (Ver. 4.10.2222A) Registry and, from what I gather, changes settings in the Reg. Now, delicate and easy as the Registry is to foul up, just how much trouble can I expect...
