use tweakUI. it has MANY other nice features and is free from microsoft. when you get it unzip it into a folder wherever you want it to be then r-click on the .inf file in that folder and click on install from that menu. after it's done go to control panel and run it from it's own icon there and look at all the nice new controls you have now got for your computer operating system. i would be lost without it.

Or..., you could just edit the msdos.sys file in the root directory and add the line "logo=0" under the [options] section.

Kambialoga is a powerful tool for changing Windows to your own choice of logo. The software is very simple to use and is presented in a tabbed interface with each tab representing a different logo.

There are configurable options to boot at start up and online help to get you started if you get stuck. This tool is freeware and can be found here.

In Win98 the start up screen has been embedded into the win.com, but you can still replace the start up logo with one of your own designs. Create your design as a 256 colour, 320 x 400 res. bitmap and save it as logo.sys in your c:/ drive root folder. Windows will then use this file in place of the built in one next time it starts up.

Hi everyone,
I can't add anything more to the subject, but I thought logo.sys was in io.sys rather than win.com. So Caroline, if you have a reference, please post it so I can get straightened out.
Thank you very much,
Don

Don, this is purely for the start up screen only.

Caroline,
Yes, the start up screen (logo.sys), I thought it was in io.sys and would like to know if it is really in win.com. Do you have a reference that says that?

I believe the start up screen is displayed long before win.com is executed, but have no reference to prove it. Here is the start up sequence for Windows 95, I guess I just thought 98 would be the same...

Thanks 88. I don't have that book but maybe Caroline does. I was hoping to find something real official on the internet, but no luck. Anyway, since your book reinforces what I thought to be true, I'll assume that Caroline's "win.com" is a misstatement.
Thanks again.
Don
