Bad sectors can't be moved. It's like a scratch in a CD -- can't be moved. Your company can surely afford 50-100 dollars for a new hard drive. If they can't -- work somewhere else. Your paycheck may bounce.

you can run scandisk from a windows startup disk, and run a thorough scan,
bootup with the startup disk in a:
type scandisk c: /thorough
it will mark the bad sectors, as bad, and
if the hd isn't failing will allow an install
of windows. if after running scandisk in thorough, win98 still won't install
it's time for a new hard drive.

As TechTony stated the bad sectors cannot be moved.

I agree with Ed in running a thorough scandisk from Dos.
This will mark the sectors as bad and you should be able to load Windows.

From personal experience and input from many others, once you begin getting bad sectors it only continues to rapidly get worse, not always the case but you should really consider a new hard drive.
