the operating system can adress far more memory than most computer systems can. there are bottle-necks in the hardware configuration that limit the amount of ram that can be used at one time. so the way i understand it;the chain is only as strong as the weakest link;the system will run no faster with twice the amount of ram as the bottle-neck limit figure. what da ya think? ds

Yups,, addresses out to Uranas and back, but two 512meggers can be "Insufficient Memory to Initialize Windows".

Would you believe you're all wrong - (and I can point you to the technical document that states it.)
The OS can address up to 4 Gigs (it's truly a 32 bit OS - 2 to the power of 32 is: 4 Gig)
Each 32 bit application can address up to 2 Gigs of memory.
By the way the document was published by Microsoft, just as the articles posted above were. Interesting sh--, no wonder we all have different opinions.
