Hi there, This Virus is called W32.Sobig.F@mm
On yahoo we have a choice to use filters....so what I did was made up filters of the following subject lines. To do this, sign into your mail, then left click on Mail Options, then left click on Filters, then click on Add, and when that opens copy and paste the following subjects into the Subject line, and also put a check mark in the box that says
Match Case. Then where it says Move the Message To , scroll down and click on trash. That should keep the e-mails from going to your mail box...good luck....Peter
Outlook Express has the same options and my friends say that it works also.
The subject line used in infected messages may be one of the following:Re: Thank you!
Re: Details
Re: Re: My details
Re: Approved

Re: That movie
Thank you!
Your detailsI haven't had any pesky virus e-mails for a few days now whereas I was getting at least 40 a day causing my mailbox to overload.

I was one of the people whp foolishly opened the virus. I had no idea it was one. Mine was labled exactly as was shown here and i got it on my lap top. It started when i logged my ltop too the internet and then when i checked the email it was sent by someone from an .edu account and i thought it was from my school and I stupidly ignored the fact that it had a virus waring attached to it and norton said it was since some files are makred as viruses even though theyre not. Suddenly nortons antivirus started these weird outgoing email spamm and i got freaked out and started closing them. by the 1000's. I couldnt believe it so i did system resotre and things returned to normal. I have 2 quetions. One is when i closed the nortons anti virus for the outgoing email scan that happened , did it send it or was the sending aborted, and two, did the system restore fully save my computer. please email me with answers or just post please. I was an idiot to open it and i was warned about 10 times not too. Dont open it if you get it. By the way your symptoms that you posted for the virus match up the ones i had 100% good job. Again please respond.

Most of the e-mails probably didn't go.
You need to delete the bad e-mail. Put it in you trash folder then delete it from there.
Also remove it from the Norton Quarantine area.
You should be OK.
Larry

I was getting so many that I ended up closing my main yahoo account. I sent yahoo the 400 some I got in one day. Never heard back from them. Went back and hour later and had 54 there again. Second day had over 300. Was time to get new email account so I did. Just waiting for it to infect the 6 email accounts I still have.

Thanks for the heads up! I've done my main OE inbox, now I have to do my Yahoo and OE on other computers.
Geesh, these virus writers are getting annoying!
Julie

Hey Terri,
My virus e-mails have stopped for some time now and my friend with the outlook express got hers to stop also in the way that I explained. No need to close down accounts because of that low-life virus situation.
