Comment: I just restored my computer, and now I get this screen that asks for a username and password before I can get to the desktop. How can I get rid of that? What could have I done during the restore that would have prevented this from happening?

Reply: (edit)Enter a user name but leave password blank. Click OK and OK again at confirmation screen. Restart computer. You shouldn't be prompted again.

Reply: (edit)On the left side of this very screen click on "Howtos" and then click on "How to Disable Logon at Startup". In answer to your last question, I'm not sure that you could have done anything during "restore" to prevent "Logon" screen from appearing. I know for a fact that during the installation of Windows ME, if a person doesn't want the "Logon" window to appear, you just simply leave the "password" blank and "Logon" won't appear. I can stand correction on this but Windows98 SE would probably be the same way being that Windows98 SE is part of Millennium Edition.

Reply: (edit)"What could have I done during the restore that would have prevented this from happening?" Nothing. It installs automatically. The first time it appears however, it will have a "Hint" dialog telling you how to avoid it from showing up again at each boot.
