I got a new computer and they told me to transfer any files from my old computer to my new one.
how the heck do I do that??????
pls. reply to my email address.

If you mean data, it depends what your machines have installed on them, eg floppy, zip drive, cd writer. Presumably if you're upgrading, your old computer it won't have a cd writer, so that's ruled out. You could use floppy disks, but if you've got a lot of data that will take ages, (unless you use Winzip to zip it all), and again unless you use something like Winzip you won't get files bigger than ~1.4Mb on to a floppy (Winzip can span large files across more than one disk).
If that's a non-starter, you could network your machines, using direct cable connection, or link them using something like Laplink or PCAnywhere. You often get trial versions of these on magazine disks, but of course you'll need a suitable cable.
For most programs, don't even think about copying them over, instead install them to your new machine from the original disks as they will install dlls and other system files all over the place which you don't know about, not to mention updating the registry, which copying won't do.
Good luck
ps - a point of etiquette - please don't ask people to email replies without posting them here as well. That way we can all share the suggestions and maybe get new ideas ourselves!

Thanks Sinisa, I forgot the obvious. C
Changing hard drives won't necessarilly work on different hardware, but if you're up to it you could put your old drive into your new machine as a slave and copy your data from that. Still need to install the software properly though.

You can always physicall install the second HDD as a slave into the new PC and transfer what you want over.
