Hello. I have a clean computer with Win98SE and Explorer 5.5SP2. Two months ago I installed Marketscore and since then I had trouble to remove it. I manually erased some files it added to my hard disk, as well as some registry entries, but despite my actions it seems to be still alive on my machine, as now, after two months of silence (I removed it the same day I installed it), I'm seeing some strange pop-up windows leading to www.marketscore.com. Seemingly, I didn't do all the necessary steps to remove it, so I'd be very thankful if someone does know what to do to get rid of this stupid spyware. Btw, Ad-Aware with the latest databases doesn't detect it. Thanks!

Hi, I ran into the problem with Marketscore after I downloaded the program DAP the only way I got rid of it was to take out the Download Accelerator program. I'm sure there is an easier way I just don't know it. If you watch your post someone smarter than me will tell you how to do this . I forgot to ask did you download the Accelerator, but that is how I got it.

Hi Andres
Your problem is that you had your computer configured on the Marketscore site. You need to go to the Marketscore site and unconfigure your browser.Download the accelerator, and use the same password you used before, close browser and open it again. Then go to members area of Marketscore,go to remove services or something like that.It wiil ask if you want to unconfigure your browser, click yes.Follow the instructions, close browser then your done.I found you got a whole lot more then acceleration with Marketscore,me personally,I found I got the blue screen Fatal Exceptions alot with Marketscore.
Good Luck Kevin

Hi, it's me again. To Kevin: I don't know whether to try going to marketscore.com or not, because if it could mess up with my registry, what assures me that it won't change values so that the network speed is slower after uninstalling it?. Besides, I faked all my information, so I don't remember my username and password =).
To SuzieQ, I don't have Download Accelerator, nor I'm not loading strange programs during startup as Dale suggested. That was I meant when I said "clean computer". So... does anyone know where exactly do I have to put my fingers??? =)

I received this directly from Market Score - Good Luck!

We apologize for any inconvenience that it may have caused you. If you configured on November 08, 2001 after 10:00 am and post to that date, please use the following instructions to manually unconfigure your browser from Marketscore.

1. Double click on the attachment, save it to your Desktop and save it as CSRemove.exe
***NOTE: You must save it as CSRemove.exe otherwise it will not properly execute.
***NOTE: You must close all browsers before performing the following steps.

2. Once it is installed double click on the green check that appears on your Desktop.

3. Click "yes" when the uninstall box appears.

4. When the uninstall successful box appears, click 'OK'.

5. Click Start on your windows start button.

6. Select Run

7. Once there, type in ossproxy /remove
*******NOTE: ossproxy /remove MUST BE WRITTEN EXACTLY THE WAY IT IS, OTHERWISE, IT WILL NOT WORK.

If you configured prior November 08, 2001, please use the following steps to unconfigure.

5. We would appreciate your assistance in improving our service, please give
the reason for uninstalling at the site you will be taken to.

6. Close and re-open your browser and you will be unconfigured.

7. At this point you may delete the green check from your desktop.

I used Ad-Aware to get rid of Marketscore! I have Download Accelerator, and it works great. I haven't had any problems with Download Accelerator making popup windows or anything. I just have DAP configured not to start up when I start Windows. Also, after I use Download Accelerator, I tell it to quit. Use the steps above and u will have no problems.

The other way to remove the program is to go to the Run command line and type Ossproxy /remove. Make sure you include the space before the slash. Also, if you remove the program in parts you are asking for trouble so don't follow Boris's instructions.

Marketscore/Netsetter is a SERIOUS pest. I found valuable info on its removal on the Ad-aware forum:

http://www.lavasoft.nu/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi?s=3d0d54b47df6ffff;act=ST;f=5;t=314

Just RUN the following command line (Win 95/98/ME)

"%WinDir%\System\NScheck.exe" /uninstall

If your on NT, then

NScheck/uninstall

Then don't forget to delete the files
nscheck.exe
ossproxy.exe

Could someone send me CSRemove.exe? I've tried emailing Marketscore's support but it got bounced back. I've tried everything else listed here including Ad-Aware and the stuff's still there! It's preventing me from accesiing the internet at all from that one computer. Nasty, evil beast of a program.
Thanks!

I used the steps posted by dres for a customer and it worked like a charm! Great stuff...If you do those steps and you're still are unable to browse you may want to follow the microsoft knowledge base article Q241344 Go through each step carefully and try not to miss anything. Pay special attention to step 13 where you go into the registry and delete the keys relating to your winsock. We use that here everyday at work...if you want more info or help shoot me an email.

I did what KJM said to do. Go to membership agreement and select remove. It will un-configure your browser for you. Thank you KJM, now all the settings stay as I have selected them :)

The problem that I am having is that after I did their auto uninstall on the website. I can no longer access my home network. The settings all look right, what am I missing? Are there still files just in there hidden? It has really messed up my system and I would not recommend it to anyone.
