Impossible to remove DirectX 9b when installed into a computer runing windows 98, this is said when you install this version of DirectX.... Only way to rid off it is to reinstall all your windows 98 OS after formating your HD totally. I remember you need a floppy disc and a CDrom of the program to reinstall windows. Your windows 98 CDrom provide you the way to rebuilt a floppy disc as autoboot for reinstallation in case you loose it....
