I want to overclock to 500+
system is a Aptiva 457
128 mb ram
100 mhz bus
440 bx boardplease help
Thanks Ross

OK Ross, I'm assuming 433mhz is the speed that the chip came with and that you are running your motherboard at 66Mhz right now so your clock multipler should be 6.5.
The easiest way to this is to increase your Front Bus Speed to 83MHz if your motherboard has that option. This will overclock your 433 to 539. Make sure you have proper cooling in you system and that the CPU fan is working properly. If you want more information check this site out, its pretty good for addtional information on overclocking celerons. Good Luck Ross!http://www.ars-technica.com/paedia/celeron_oc_faq.html

the board is a v66m
2163-557
System board
V66M
Processor/Speed
Intel Celeron 433MHz
System board chipset
Intel 443BX
System board form factor
Micro-ATX
Front-side bus speed
100MHz
Any help in regards to the settings for increasing greatly apperciated

Ross, another good site to check out is:

I believe the V66M MB is manufactured by Acer.

Just use i high proformance heat sink with 2 fans for stable speeds of 540 aprox and use thermal guck for further clocking! remember 650 is a very ulikely speed and best left till your system is on its last legs or you spend £500 on a cooling unit

Yes, the V66M is an Acer Motherboard. I have an Acer aspire, and it is the same board I am using. The problem w/this board is that it only supports up to 450 mhz via the jumper settings.. So you will have to go w/another option ...

Blockade,
ACER america says that the V66M will only support up to 450 mhz. However, I found a switch setting for V66M in ACER UK that has settings up to 500 mhz. Also, while searching around IBM support, I found machines as high as PIII 550 mhz with the V66M motherboard.
It seems like the board can support higher, I just have to find out how.Regards

The V66M-2 motherboard will go up to 800mhz with the correct dip switch settings...check out acer in europe there web site has the numbers for you...as far as front side bus....I have never found out how to adjust it through bios, or programs

I have the IBM PIII 550 with the V66M MB and the only way I find to o/c it's using SoftFSB if you find another way please tell me.

I have a ibm aptiva 350 mhz with an acer v66m motherboard and want to overclock it i have tried with the jumpers but nothing happends i used the manual and stuff what do i do wrong or what is f***ed up?
